6. Site Specific Information

Sections 6 to 16 of the document present information for each NCMPA, SPA, and SAC. This includes general background on the site and features, site Conservation Objectives, and details on the fisheries management measures considered and subsequently proposed for consultation. In all cases, the protected features refer to the features for which the site was designated, and these are the features measures are being proposed to protect.

More information regarding the site selection process that took place for the designation of the NCMPAs can be found on SiteLink for each site under assessment against the MPA selection guidelines. The confidence in the presence and extent of the protected features at point of designation was set out for each NCMPA on SiteLink in the data confidence assessments. The boundaries of NCMPAs were set in accordance with the boundary setting principles outlined in the MPA Selection Guidelines.

This section does not discuss the proposed PMF management areas, which will be discussed in sections 17 to 24. This is because these areas are not designated MPAs.

Sites where only one option is being proposed to be consulted on are outlined as single proposed management options. This is the case where only one option was identified as enabling the achievement of the desired level of protection for the feature in question.

If a site overlaps with another site with proposed fisheries management measures this is highlighted, as well as any sites that are being taken forward together as dual management.
