National Missing Persons Framework for Scotland 2025
The National Missing Persons Framework for Scotland (2025) provides updated roles and responsibilities of respective agencies, standardising key practice from a wealth of good practice across Scotland, that aims to help and safeguard those who go missing through multi-agency working.
Risk Assessment
It is, of course, vital to assess the level of risk involved when someone goes missing and to be able to communicate that to others.
Therefore, to provide professionals working in different settings with a consistent definition of risk, this Framework maintains that the current ‘ low’, ‘medium’ and ‘high’ risk assessment continues to be implemented and used across Scotland and aligned with Police Scotland. A more detailed guide to the ‘low’, ‘medium’ and ‘high levels of risk can be found in Annex C.
