Action Plans
Across Health and Social Care 42% of teams have completed Action Plans within 8 weeks in 2021. This is the first time the window for Action Plans has been reduced from 12 weeks. The table following shows Action Plan completion for each Board, both for 2021 and for previous years.

The variation in the level of Action Plan completion across the Boards is considerable. Among the Geographic Boards the range goes from only 10% of teams in NHS Highland to 58% of teams in NHS Forth Valley.
Whilst the timeframes for completion were reduced in 2021, some Boards have much larger than average declines in the percentage of teams Action Plans:
- NHS Lothian: 57% in 2019, 15% in 2021
- Scottish Ambulance Service: 82% in 2019, 41% in 2021
- NHS Highland: 49% in 2019, 10% in 2021
- NHS Dumfries & Galloway: 58% in 2019, 20% in 2021
In contrast, there are several Boards that have increased the number of teams with Action Plans in 2021, despite the reduced time to complete them:
- Golden Jubilee Foundation: 52% in 2091, 74% in 2021
- NHS Western Isles: 13% in 2019, 31% in 2021
- NHS Fife: 42% in 2019, 52% in 2021
