LiDAR

Description

Scottish Government and agency (EnFor, ARE, Agricultural Reform Programme, Digital Directorate, SEPA, NatureScot, Forestry and Land Scotland, Scottish Forestry, Forest Research and Scottish Water) funded delivery of the first ever full and publicly available LiDAR map of Scotland

Purpose

Free for all users of mapping products, the national land LiDAR map will provide unprecedented landscape detail and measurements of height. LiDAR maps the terrain and objects above the ground surface. This product can support the sector through identifying and monitoring growth of forests, hedgerows, wetlands and trees outside woodlands, restoration of peatlands, erosion of soils, run-off and flooding risk and construction of buildings. This knowledge can help farmers to adjust their management, conserving their resources, and protecting the environment.
