In 2025 a consultation was held, Voices in Justice - a Consultation on parole reform in Scotland. It asked victims, people in custody, justice professionals, and the wider public for their views on the parole system. This document is the summary of those response in easy read format.
Consultation
Members of the Parole Board
A law could be made so that certain experts would be on the Parole Board.
No one could agree if the law should be changed or not.
People said that if the law did change the Parole Board should include
- health professionals
- psychologists
- social workers
- lawyers
Some people said the Parole Board could include victims and families and those who have been in prison.
