In 2025 a consultation was held, Voices in Justice - a Consultation on parole reform in Scotland. It asked victims, people in custody, justice professionals, and the wider public for their views on the parole system. This document is the summary of those response in easy read format.

A lot of people said that victims should get to choose how they find out about parole.
Most people thought victims should be able to choose how they get information about the release of the person in custody.
They thought the information should
- have all the facts and information
- be easy to understand
Most people said victims should be kept up to date on the parole process.
It should not make victims upset.
Victims should be able to ask questions.
Some prisoners and ex-prisoners thought that victims should not be involved in the parole process.
They thought that victims should only be given basic information.
