In 2025 a consultation was held, Voices in Justice - a Consultation on parole reform in Scotland. It asked victims, people in custody, justice professionals, and the wider public for their views on the parole system. This document is the summary of those response in easy read format.

Most people thought the parole system and how the Parole Board makes decisions should be explained better.
People agreed that the names of all people involved in parole should be kept secret.
Some people said the internet could help explain the parole process. Others said that paper information or telephone helplines were better.
