Staff will be counted once for each centre that they work in. Manager(s) of the Care Commission registered service who work directly with children are excluded from the table.
423 centres did not provide information on the number of childcare staff. Where centres provided information in 2009, the number of staff has been carried forward to 2010 (384 centres). Where information was not available from 2009 (39 centres), the median number of staff have been inserted (based on centres who submitted the full census form).
All figures are rounded to the nearest 10 to express the uncertainty inherent in these estimates. For this reason, totals may not exactly equal the sum of their parts.
