Since 2018, the area of fully organic land has increased in all five regions (Highlands and Islands, Southern Scotland, Eastern Scotland, North Eastern Scotland, and West Central Scotland). In 2024, the Highlands and Islands contained 48,000 hectares (46% of fully organic land) of organic farmland, the highest proportion of the five regions in Scotland. This is followed by Southern Scotland (29,000 hectares, 28%), Eastern Scotland (18,000 hectares, 17%), North Eastern Scotand (9,000 hectares, 9%), and West Central Scotland (600 hectares, less than 1%).
