Independent living
The systems that support young people to be independent must:
- work well together
- be person-centred and give each person what they need
- give each person choices and chances
- support them to feel powerful and confident
What we will do next
- the Housing to 2040 plan will make it easier for people to get accessible and supported housing
There will be 1 hundred and 10 thousand new affordable homes across Scotland by 2032.
At least 7 out of 10 (70 per cent) will be for rent from local councils or housing associations.
1 in 10 (10 per cent) will be in countryside communities and island communities.
The Scottish Government will:
- keep using the Affordable Housing Supply Programme to provide more than 6 hundred homes for disabled people
- keep sharing information and guidance about the Child Disability Payment and Adult Disability Payment
This will make sure that people know how to apply for these benefits.
