An Easy Read version of the Scottish Government's response to the First Minister's National Advisory Council on Women and Girls first Phase Two report. The response addresses each of the 21 Calls to Action included in the report.
Isolation and loneliness
Being isolated means not having much contact with people.
Loneliness is a serious problem that affects mental and physical health.
Women can feel isolated for many reasons like:
- being a carer
- being disabled
- living alone
- living in poverty
The Scottish Government says reducing loneliness is important for wellbeing – feeling comfortable, healthy and happy
They want to support community groups to create more activities where women and girls can connect, socialise, and feel part of their community.
These groups could be things like:
- walking groups
- social clubs
- craft groups
- exercise groups
- local events
- peer support meetings – this means when people meet and use their own experiences to help each other
