First Minister's National Advisory Council on Women and Girls First Phase Two Report: Scottish Government Response - Easy Read

An Easy Read version of the Scottish Government's response to the First Minister's National Advisory Council on Women and Girls first Phase Two report. The response addresses each of the 21 Calls to Action included in the report.

Why gender inequality matters

Gender inequality means women and girls do not always have the same chances as men and boys.

This unfairness can affect many areas of life including:

  • education and health
  • work and money
  • safety and family life

Women are often marginalised which means:

  • they experience not being listened to
  • they get fewer chances to take part fully

The Scottish Government believes that when women and girls have fair opportunities, communities become stronger and more equal.
