Why gender inequality matters
Gender inequality means women and girls do not always have the same chances as men and boys.
This unfairness can affect many areas of life including:
- education and health
- work and money
- safety and family life
Women are often marginalised which means:
- they experience not being listened to
- they get fewer chances to take part fully
The Scottish Government believes that when women and girls have fair opportunities, communities become stronger and more equal.
