First Minister's National Advisory Council on Women and Girls First Phase Two Report: Scottish Government Response - Easy Read
An Easy Read version of the Scottish Government's response to the First Minister's National Advisory Council on Women and Girls first Phase Two report. The response addresses each of the 21 Calls to Action included in the report.
Listening better
Many women and girls feel they are not listened to.
The Scottish Government says this must change and they want to include more voices including women who:
- are disabled
- are minority ethnic
- are migrants
- are carers
- are young or older
- do not have enough money to live well
are living in the countryside
Lived experience means real stories and real experiences like those shared by the Empowering Women Panel.
The Scottish Government says that lived experience should be treated as important evidence.
They plan to work with more lived experience groups so women feel safe, respected and supported when sharing their experiences.
Better evidence and data – facts, figures and information
Good data helps the Scottish Government understand who faces inequality and why it happens.
This means better decisions can be made.
The data does not have enough information on some groups, like minority ethnic women or women living in rural areas.
The Scottish Government will get this missing information using:
- surveys
- interviews
- research projects
- community engagement
They also plan to create a new way to track progress more clearly and show what has been made better over time.
