Information on upcoming statistical releases is published in the Scottish Government Official Statistics: forthcoming publications spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is updated weekly.
The calendar includes Accredited Official Statistics, Official Statistics and Management Information publications. The month of the publication is normally provided at least twelve months before the publication. An exact date and publication time is provided at least four weeks before publication date. This is in line with the requirements of the Code of Practice for Statistics.

The Scottish Household Survey (SHS) is run centrally in CAD. The SHS provides robust evidence on the characteristics, attitudes and behaviour of private households and individuals, as well as on the physical condition of Scotland’s homes. SHS outputs can be found under the relevant theme e.g. Transport and Travel, People and Places.
The Scottish House Condition Survey (SHCS) operates as a subset of the SHS and reinterviews around 3,000 households who take part in the SHS annually through a physical inspection of their dwelling by a trained surveyor. This is the largest single housing research project in Scotland, and the only national survey to look at the physical condition of Scotland's homes as well as the experiences of householders.
Technical development work
The Scottish Government is moving to Cloud infrastructure for all analytical data and is moving to open source software solutions for data processing and analysis.
There is currently a programme of work in CAD to ensure our data structures are fit for transfer to the Cloud and that all training, coding and testing to utilise open source data processing is in place.
Statistical development work
The collection and publication of homelessness statistics is currently being refreshed through the Homelessness Data Review project. This project, in collaboration with local authority data providers, has the aims of improving the collections (content and systems) and adapting them to report against new statutory prevention duties within the Housing (Scotland) Act 2025.
Poverty and inequality statistics are currently undergoing a programme of statistical improvements, overseen by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Ahead of the Poverty and Income Inequality in Scotland 2022-25 (March 2026) publication, the Family Resources Survey (FRS) was linked to administrative records on social security benefits. This innovation aims to correct for the known undercount of benefit receipt reported through the survey and resulted in revised poverty rates for the UK and the devolved nations. Ongoing improvement work is planned over the coming years with the next stage of development being updating the poverty estimates to reflect the 2022 census population results. DWP’s FRS release strategy will be updated as plans progress to keep users informed of the latest developments.
The SHCS is exploring using data matching with administrative datasets from HRMC, DWP, and Social Security Scotland to provide income data which is currently collected as part of the SHS.
The Equality Analysis Team produces a mixture of routine and ad-hoc statistics and social research publications on topics relating to the nine protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010. Previous equality publications can be found on our collections page. The Equality Analysis team is also responsible for maintaining the Equality Evidence Finder, a publicly available dashboard, which brings together equality evidence produced by Scottish Government and its agencies. Updates to the Equality Evidence Finder were paused in June 2026. The table below contains a list of planned statistical equality publications for 2026/27. Further publications may be announced in response to emerging policy needs.

In addition, we will continue to support equalities harmonisation across the Scottish Government. This will include engaging in discussions with the Office of National Statistics, Government Statistical Service, and National Records of Scotland about ongoing reviews or updates to their data collection guidance. We will support the Office of the Chief Statistician to review, update and disseminate equalities collection guidance for Scottish Government statisticians.
