New homes - enhancing accessibility, adaptability and usability: consultation analysis

Analysis of consultation responses on proposals to improve the accessibility, adaptability and usability of new homes in Scotland, informing the development of a Scottish Accessible Homes Standard.

Appendix B: Quantitative analysis

Introduction

The consultation included 52 closed questions which asked respondents for their views on the range of proposals included in the consultation paper. This appendix details the responses to these questions. Of the 52 closed questions:

  • thirty-four presented respondents with proposals and asked if they agreed with all or some of the proposals, or if they disagreed or were neutral. It should be noted that two questions (Question 1 and Question 39) were variations of this question, with an option to agree that not all clauses should be included and two disagree options for either some or all clauses to be included
  • seven (Question 4, Question 8, Question 12, Question 23, Question 24, Question 30, and Question 33) presented respondents with a specific proposal and asked if they agreed, disagreed or were neutral
  • eleven (Question 40, Question 41, and Question 44 onwards) asked if respondents had any further feedback or comments on the proposals, with Yes, No and Do not know/no opinion answer options

Not all respondents answered every question; the number who responded to each question are included in the following tables, and in the tables presented in the main body of the report.

To compare across sub-groups, the tables below present the results of the 52 closed questions based on those who answered each question. However, for clarity we include both the number answering (Base n=) and percentage response rate (% Answering, or % RR) for each question.

The summary tables below are provided to enable an easy comparison across questions. These are based on respondents who gave an answer to each question and present the percentage of this group who selected each answer option at each question.

Following the summary tables are 52 separate tables for each closed questions included in the consultation. The tables for each question show:

  • The number of respondents from the total sample of 114 respondents who selected each response, and the corresponding percentage.
  • The number and percentage response among those answering each question, broken down by individual and organisation responses and by type of organisation.

Please note that the row percentages may not add to 100% due to rounding.

Summary tables

The following tables are a summary of % response among all answering each question. (Many consultation questions include detailed descriptions of clauses and proposals that are too lengthy to include in this table in full. However, the full text of each question is included in the main body of the report and in the detailed response tables later in this Appendix.)

Table notes

  • ‘Base n=’ means the number of each group answering for each question
  • where applicable, the wording in column headings have been changed from the original ‘don’t’ in the question paper, to ‘do not’
