Violence Prevention Framework for Scotland: Monitoring Framework, 2025
Monitoring framework to support the delivery of the Violence Prevention Framework for Scotland.
Part of
Introduction
The Violence Prevention Framework (VPF), published in 2023, sets out a vision to prevent violence across Scotland, and when it does occur, to reduce its harms.
The VPF is underpinned by the public health approach to violence prevention which seeks to address the underlying risk factors that increase the likelihood that an individual will experience violent crime (as a victim and/or perpetrator). The framework highlights a range of cross-government activity and identifies a variety of activities within an initial three-year Action Plan to address some specific areas of violence prevention, focused on (but not limited to) addressing non-sexual interpersonal violence. Progress against the Action Plan is reported annually.
The VPF is supported by an evidence supplement and links to the wider Vision for Justice in Scotland, spanning the full journey of criminal, civil and administrative justice, with a focus on creating safer communities and shifting societal attitudes and circumstances which perpetuate crime and harm.
The VPF committed to the development of a Measurement Framework identifying a set of high-level indicators to monitor progress towards the VPF vision.
