Total Income from Farming Estimates: Methodology
This report provides information on the methodology of total income from farming (TIFF) estimates. Information is included about methodology, estimation methods and limitations.
Timeliness and Punctuality
Timeliness is about releasing statistics in a timely and punctual manner.
Initial estimates of total income from farming, and a breakdown of output, input and support payments to agriculture are made available in the year following the reference year. These initial estimates make a very good prediction of the accurate value of total income from farming at this point in time.
An initial estimate is made as soon as highly accurate data are available for most agricultural outputs of the previous calendar year and results from the Farm Business Survey are available to revise estimates for the calendar year prior and for projecting forward cost estimates.
Time is also required after data collection for data processing, analysis and quality assurance, as well as compilation, preparation and dissemination of final results.
