1. Overall values are given in nominal terms in 2017, but percentage changes reflect real changes after adjusting for inflation.
2. West of Scotland cod and whiting have a nil quota and are managed as a bycatch.
3. Active vessels are fishing vessels that are registered and licenced to fish and have not been declared inactive by the vessel owner; see the glossary.
4. The main fishing method specified on a vessel’s licence application may differ from the actual fishing gear used in individual voyages.
