More vegetables grown for human consumption than crops for animal feed
Since 2016, the area used to grow vegetables for human consumption (excluding potatoes) has generally increased, while crops grown for animal feed (stockfeed) have remained relatively stable.
In 2026, the vegetable crop area reached 24,300 hectares, 11% above the five-year average. This rise in vegetables grown for human consumption is mainly due to increases in peas and beans for canning, freezing and drying, and in carrots.
The stockfeed crop area was 17,600 hectares in 2026, a 6.6% increase compared with the five-year average.
