Nematodes

Soil samples taken from the field in which the potatoes were grown should be free from grass cyst nematodes (Punctodera punctata (=Heterodera punctata)) and beet cyst nematodes (Heterodera schachtii) as well as potato cyst nematodes (Globodera rostochiensis and G. pallida).

Tuber tolerances

Minimum tolerances for seed export apply.

Import permit: required.

Class: Elite or higher only.

Additional declarations to be inserted on the reverse of the phytosanitary certificate for seed potatoes

  1. The tubers in this consignment possess an official Elite (="SS") certificate.
  2. Samples of soil from the land in which the potatoes were grown were drawn and tested by the Department prior to planting and revealed no trace of viable cysts of potato cyst nematodes (Globodera rostochiensis and G. pallida), grass cyst nematodes (Punctodera punctata (=Heterodera punctata)) and beet cyst nematodes (Heterodera schachtii).
  3. The plants or parent plants were inspected during active growth and found to be free from Tomato spotted wilt virus and visible signs of other quarantine virus diseases.
  4. Potato tuber nematode (Ditylenchus destructor) has not been recorded in commercial stocks of potatoes grown in Scotland for more than 20 years.
  5. Stem nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci) has never been recorded in commercial stocks of potatoes grown in Scotland.
