National Flood Resilience Strategy: Implementation Plan
This Implementation Plan sets out the actions that government, public bodies, local authorities, communities and partners will take over the next four years to deliver Scotland’s National Flood Resilience Strategy.
National Flood Resilience Strategy Outcomes
People
Creating flood-resilient places involves our people and communities. We will work with partners to explore how people and communities can be sufficiently informed and supported to be involved in flood resilience decision making and so contribute to their own flood resilience.
Places
Land management and placemaking decisions follow good practice for flood resilience. We will work with partners to explore how our places can contribute to our flood resilience.
Processes
Flood resilience is blended into our places at all scales; a broader range of actions are being delivered by a broader range of delivery partners. We will work with partners to develop our processes to improve our flood resilience
National Flood Resilience Strategy priority areas
The Flood Resilience Strategy identified 6 priority areas for action:
- Setting up a Flood Advisory Service for Scotland
- Supporting a broader range of flood actions
- Improving flood resilience through data
- Involving and supporting communities
- Improving land use for flood mitigation
- Relocation supporting long term transition planning for communities at highest risk
Work to implement the strategy under these key outcomes and priority action areas is well underway. This implementation plan sets out the next steps and actions that will be taken by organisations and policy areas across Scotland to work towards a more flood resilient Scotland. The plan covers the next 4 years and will be reviewed and updated before the end of that period.
