Cereal and oilseed rape harvest: final estimates - 2024

Final estimates of area, yield and production for winter and spring barley, wheat, oats and oilseed rape, for the 2024 harvest.

Mixed production results across Scotland

While total cereal production decreases 2% compared to the previous year, results are more mixed across the country.

In Eastern Scotland production decreased 5% compared to 2023. Decreases are also seen for Southern Scotland (4%) and Highlands and Islands (2%).

North Eastern Scotland saw a small overall increase in production compared to 2023 (1%). Only around 1% of cereals are grown in West Central Scotland. This area experienced an increase, but the changes may not be significant.

The regions reported are the International Territorial Level 2 regions of Scotland.
