Restitution Fund: guidance
The power to make a restitution order came into force on 10 February 2021. These orders are a financial penalty available to courts to those convicted of assault on police, under section 90 of the Police and Fire Reform Act 2012. The funding received will provide support services for victims.
7. Equality and Diversity
7.1 In the establishment, maintenance and administration of the Fund, the Scottish Ministers must have regard to:
- the need to promote equality and diversity,
- the need to prevent discrimination, harassment and victimisation on grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.
