Permanent pasture was the main use of organic land
Permanent pasture (including rough grazing) accounted for the biggest share of the fully organic area in Scotland (96,100 hectares, 83%), followed by temporary pasture (8,200 hectares, 7.1%), and cereals (4,900 hectares, 4.3%).

Cereals are the main organic crop
The three main crop types grown organically in Scotland are cereals, other arable crops (such as fodder, silage, and oil crops), and vegetables (including potatoes).
The area of organically grown cereal crops increased slightly in 2025 to 4,900 hectares. This is an increase of 0.5% compared with 2024 and 11% compared with 2021.
The area of other arable crops increased by 3.1% compared with 2021 but decreased by 16% compared with 2024.
The area of organic vegetables increased by 31% in 2025 compared with 2024.
