National Transitions to Adulthood Strategy for Young Disabled People - Easy Read

The Scottish Government and the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) are pleased to present the Easy Read version of Scotland’s first National Transitions to Adulthood Strategy for young disabled people.

Next Steps

This strategy is the start of a longer-term commitment. We want to improve the experiences of transitions to adulthood for young disabled people.

We will keep working with young disabled people, their parents, carers, and staff who support them. This will make sure they can continue to have a say to make transitions better.

We will also work with Disabled People’s and Carers Organisations. They can let us know if the changes we are making are working.

The External Strategic Working Group will be invited to help check the actions in this plan.

We will report on the progress we are making. This will help people to know if transitions to adulthood for young disabled people are being made better.

Transitions will only improve when everyone is working together at a national and local level.

This strategy is a promise to do better together so:

  • young disabled people in Scotland feel confident in their transition to adulthood
  • they are empowered and supported to control own path to success.
