National Transitions to Adulthood Strategy for Young Disabled People - Easy Read
The Scottish Government and the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) are pleased to present the Easy Read version of Scotland’s first National Transitions to Adulthood Strategy for young disabled people.
Priority 6: Connecting to a Wider Policy Landscape
What this means

Bringing information together in a clear way so that young people, parents and carers and the staff who support them are better able to understand and use it. This will cover the law, plans and activities which help to make transitions for young disabled people better.
Why this is important

Young disabled people have told us that good transitions looks different for everyone. Every young disabled person can make different choices when they leave school.

The transition to adulthood involves many different changes. Young people may need support across several different areas in their life if they are to achieve their full potential.

The responsibility for providing this support is shared by Scottish Government and lots of other organisations. It is important that everyone works together to support young disabled people in their transition to adulthood.
What we will do

We will keep working between different parts of the Scottish Government. This will make sure transitions is considered in all the areas where a young disabled person might need support.

We will make a report in the Autumn of 2025. This will say what we are doing, and what we will do to support young people across these areas.
