Ministerial Accountability Board Final Report Easy Read version
This report outlines how the Ministerial Accountability Board oversaw progress on 43 recommendations and actions arising from three Fatal Accident Inquiries of deaths in prison custody.
Good changes
- Taking away the dangers found in cells.
- Prison service are making a better plan to keep people safe.
- More safety checks for young people’s first 3 days in prison.
- Someone who does not work for the prison does checks straight after someone dies in prison to help learn from it.
- Forth Valley Health Board has better training for staff on how to keep information.
- Free legal aid for families of someone who has died in prison.
- New checks by independent people will be used to understand deaths in prison.
