Ministerial Accountability Board Final Report Easy Read version

This report outlines how the Ministerial Accountability Board oversaw progress on 43 recommendations and actions arising from three Fatal Accident Inquiries of deaths in prison custody.

Reporting and engagement

The organisations reported on changes they had made. The Board looked at the reports and checked how things were going.

The Board also went to Polmont and Stirling prisons to:

  • see where young people stay while in prison
  • speak to staff and young people
  • understand problems with making the changes.

The Board also met with and shared information on what is being done with families of young people who had died in prison. Some family members went to two of the Board meetings. They helped with discussions.
