Grenfell Tower Inquiry recommendations: progress update - March 2026
The progress update contains information regarding the Grenfell Tower Inquiry recommendations (so far as relevant to Scotland). Information is current up until 1 March 2026. Further progress updates will follow in due course.
Introduction
On 25 March 2025, the Scottish Government’s response was published to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry phase two report.
The response paper provided an update on the work underway in Scotland and identified where further action was required to support change to strengthen systems across areas where responsibility was devolved as well as on reserved matters working with the UK Government and other administrations.
To support the monitoring of progress in taking forward the 58 recommendations (and two separate issues) made by the Inquiry that cover building regulation, Building Standards, professional competence, construction product regulation, civil contingencies and fire and rescue, the Scottish Government intends to publish a series of short periodic updates, on a broadly quarterly basis.
It is the intention to supplement these updates with the publication, in September, of a more comprehensive review of progress with the recommendations.
