Equality and Human Rights Mainstreaming Strategy: consultation analysis - easy read

Easy read version of the independent analysis of our consultation on an Equality and Human Rights Mainstreaming Strategy.

6. What people thought about our plans to help more staff have more skills and understanding

We want everyone who works for public organisations to put equality and human rights into everything they do.

Public organisations are organisations like schools, hospitals and councils.

9 out of every 10 people agreed that staff in public organisations should have the right skills to put equality and human rights into all they do.

Some people said that changing the culture was the most important part of the Strategy.

In this document, culture means the way that teams of people:

  • think
  • communicate
  • behave

Half the people agreed that the Strategy has all the important parts to have more skills and a better culture.

Some people said that:

  • this aim is too hard to put into practice
  • it is not clear enough
  • it would not work everywhere
  • it could make too much work
