Children in Residential Care Statistics

Statistics on children in residential care using data from Scotland's Census 2022.


Main language

Where a main language was recorded (for children aged three or over), English was the main language for 96% of children in both residential care and households. The proportion of children who had a main language other than English was similar across both groups (4%).

[note 2] Census data does not record a main language for children under the age of three.
