Cash-First
Definition
Ready access to emergency income when someone has no money for food. To prevent future hardship this should be delivered alongside welfare rights and income maximisation advice and support.

Delivery Partner
Definition
There are eight regional Cash-First Delivery Partners comprising core partner organisations who are responsible for delivering the specific programme of support in their dedicated area to Cash-First beneficiaries.
Concept
Food bank
Definition
Charitable or community organisations that distribute food parcels to people experiencing financial hardship. The two largest food bank networks in Scotland are Trussell and the Independent Food Aid Network. These networks represent many but not all food banks. Many community food and other organisations also integrate food provision alongside their wider activities.

Food insecurity
Definition
The full range of experiences from worry regarding ability to afford food, through to compromising on quality and quantity of food and experiencing hunger. We recognise the social role of food and importance of being able to access food in ways which are common to a society.

In-work poverty
Definition
People who are considered in relative poverty (household income of less than 60% of the national average) within households where at least one person is in employment.

Learning Partner
Definition
An independent learning support to help Delivery Partners design and deliver Cash-First support and maximise learning from this.

Local stakeholder
Definition
Any organisation that supports the delivery of Cash-First activity in each of the eight Delivery Partner areas. These may be, or may become, local referral partners.

People with lived experience
Definition
Individuals who have the knowledge and personal experience of specific circumstances, in this case, have experienced or are experiencing food insecurity.
Concept
Wrap-around support
Definition
Diverse support which incorporates all relevant services that can helps a person experiencing food insecurity and tackle the causes of this. achieving the desired outcome. This might include mental health support, housing advice debt advice, energy advice, employability support, financial resilience training, and others.
