Total income from farming estimates: 2025

Total income from farming (TIFF) is the official measure of the profit gained by the agricultural industry in Scotland. It provides a breakdown of the value of farm production, support payments and costs. An Accredited Official Statistics publication for Scotland.

First published: 30 April 2026.

Sector profit without support payments

Support payments accounted for 40% of profit from all farming in 2025, down from 53% in 2024. Over the last ten years (2016 to 2025) support payments accounted for around 64% of profit from farming on average.

Without support payments, the agricultural sector as a whole has been profitable since 2010, although this will vary considerably across sub-sectors.

In 2025, total income from farming less support is estimated at around £0.9 billion.
