Sheep and goat condensed guidance
In Scotland, sheep and goat identification and traceability are vital for disease prevention, control, eradication and the protection of public health. This condensed guidance is designed to be a handy companion to, and complement, the existing sheep and goat guidance already available.
Record keeping
Keepers must maintain a holding register with:
- the date of first identification
- the date the animal dies
- details of movements to another holding
- the CPH, address of the holding, and the name and address of the keeper
- the type of production (meat, wool or hobby)
- the result of the latest inventory and the date on which it was carried out
- for animals leaving the holding – the name of the transporter, vehicle registration, the CPH or name and address of the destination, and the date of departure
- for animals arriving on the holding – the CPH of the holding from which the animal came and the date of arrival
Entries must be made within 48 hours of each event.
