11. Checking the impact (are changes fair and safe?)

Before any big changes are made, the Scottish Government checks how they might affect people’s privacy, children’s rights and wellbeing, and fairness. These checks help improve proposals and make sure no group is treated unfairly.

Questions about impact (Q36–Q38)

Q36. What could make personal information unsafe (for example, sharing it with too many people, weak system security, or not asking for permission)? How can we stop these problems from happening?

Q37. What problems could affect children’s rights or wellbeing (for example, privacy, fairness, safety or development)? How can we make sure children’s rights are protected?

Q38. What fairness issues could come up (for example, disability, age, gender, race). How can we make sure no-one is treated unfairly?
