Scottish Welfare Fund Statistics: update to 31 March 2025

The annual update of Scottish Welfare Fund Statistics for 2024-25. This includes annual statistics on Community Care Grants and Crisis grants from 2013, as well as quarterly breakdowns from 2020.


In the latest year, over half of all awards have gone to single person households (57%), and over a quarter to single parent households (28%) (Table 64a, Chart 13). In comparison, the latest household estimates for Scotland indicate that 37% of households are occupied by a single person. Under a quarter of Scottish Welfare Fund awards have gone to couples, couples with children or other types of household (15%), whereas over half of households in Scotland are estimated to fall into these categories. In total around a third (36%) awards have gone to households containing children.
