Scotland's Carbon Footprint 1998 – 2019

Estimates of Scotland's greenhouse gas emissions on a consumption basis for the period 1998 to 2019.

Contribution of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions to Scotland's carbon footprint

CO2 is the main greenhouse gas in Scotland's carbon footprint. It accounted for 71.5 per cent of Scotland's total carbon footprint in 2019, up from 69.7 per cent in 1998. Between 2018 and 2019, Scotland's carbon dioxide footprint from all sources decreased by 1.4 per cent.
