Chapter 2: Schools built or substantially refurbished
- 42 schools were built or substantially refurbished in 2020-21.
- 1,000 schools have been built or substantially refurbished since 2007-08.
The 2021 School Estates Core Facts Survey collected information on all schools that were built or substantially refurbished during the 2020-21 year. Only builds or refurbishments costing at least half a million pounds for primary and at least one million pounds for secondary and special schools are reported here.
Table 2.1 shows that 42 schools were built or refurbished in 2020-21. Of these, 33 were primary schools, seven were secondary schools and two were special schools. Since 2007-08, 1,000 schools have been built or substantially refurbished.
