Restorative justice: policy and practice framework

Guidance on the practice of restorative justice (RJ) in Scotland in relation to adults and children. It sets out minimum standards and expectations against which RJ practice can be benchmarked, monitored and evaluated to ensure consistent delivery in line with RJ principles.


1. Introduction

1.1 This document provides guidance on the practice of restorative justice (RJ) in Scotland in relation to both adults and children (i.e. anyone under the age of 18). It sets out minimum standards and expectations against which RJ practice can be benchmarked, monitored and evaluated to ensure consistency in the delivery of practice in line with key restorative justice principles.

1.2 This document is intended for use by any organisation or service providing RJ and/or working in partnership with an organisation or service providing RJ. This includes those promoting the availability of RJ, supporting referrals to RJ and those addressing the needs of individuals also engaged in an RJ process.

1.1 The Restorative Justice Action Plan[i] provides the vision, outcomes and ambition for restorative justice development and delivery in Scotland.
