FAQsWhat is this research about?

It is about people’s experiences of employment support services in Scotland. By ‘employment support services’ we mean local services (not including Jobcentre Plus) that help people get ready for, find, start and stay in work. This could include careers advice, support to access education, training or apprenticeships, as well as help building confidence. This employment support might have been provided by your local authority, a charity, or another organisation.

Why are you carrying out this survey?

This survey will help the Scottish Government and local councils to understand how services are working and think about how they could be improved.

Who is doing the research?

This research is being carried out by Ipsos Scotland, an independent research organisation. It has been commissioned by the Scottish Government, but it is completely confidential – no one from the Government, Social Security Scotland, DWP, or any other organisation will know that you took part in this research. Taking part will not affect any support or benefits you may be receiving.

Your information will be kept confidential

Once you have filled in the survey, Ipsos will write a report for Scottish Government about what we find out, which will be published on their website. Your answers will be kept anonymous. Nobody will be able to identify you in any published results.

If you have any further questions about the research, please either email us EmpSupportSurvey@ipsosresearch.com or phone us on 0800 151 0608.

If you require further support

If you need additional support, you can contact Citizens Advice, who provide free, impartial and confidential advice for everyone. They can help with many issues such as housing, benefits, finances, bills, and more. You can call them at 0800 028 1456 or find them through https://www.cas.org.uk/. If you require support with mental health, you can reach out to Change Mental Health, who can provide support and signposting on a range of topics, such as looking after your own mental health. You can call them at: 0808 8010 515 (Mon-Fri 10am to 4pm, closed between 12:30 – 1:30) or find them at https://changemh.org/need-support/
