Scottish Government response and next steps
Thank you to everyone who answered the consultation. Your views are important. Special thanks to people who shared their lived experience.
We will think about the answers while we finish writing the change to the law. We will pass it to the Scottish Parliament to make it a law.
The problems that came up:
- Clear rules for what to do.
- Make sure everyone is using the same forms.
- Information must be easy to understand, like Easy Read and different languages.
- Training.
- Advocacy support.
- Preparing services for extra demand.
- Having all the extra things that might be needed.
- Checks to see if things are working.
We will think about these when we plan how to make the change.
We will think about how to help patients who have a right to apply for recorded matters but would find it hard. Like patients without a named person or who need advocacy, legal or other help.
We will also think about what we were told about the impact assessments. An impact assessment looks at how a change will affect groups of people or businesses.
People must be protected when the changes are put in place. They said there will be more asked of public bodies and charities. We will think about this.
People said it will be important to check that things are working well after the changes are made. We will think about how to quickly find any problems.
