Timing and alignment

9.1 HNDAs should be undertaken every 5 years to support LHSs and LDPs and be capable of looking forward 20 years from the year of plan approval. Once considered robust and credible by the Scottish Government CHMA there is no requirement to re-visit the assessment within the 5 year period.

9.2 HMPs may, however, want to consider how data required to feed into the HNDA are routinely maintained and kept up-to-date in the intervening years to support future HNDA requirements. HNDAs should be completed in good time to ensure that they inform the LHS and LDP.
