Social Security Scotland: framework document

Sets out the detailed accountability and governance framework for Social Security Scotland, and the context for the Agency's relationship with Scottish Ministers and core Scottish Government Directorates.


Status

1. Social Security Scotland is an Executive Agency within the Scottish Government. This Framework Document sets out the detailed accountability and governance framework for the Agency, and the context for the Agency's relationship with Scottish Ministers and core Scottish Government directorates.

2. The Agency commenced activity as an Executive Agency of the Scottish Government on 1 st Sept 2018. The Agency is responsible for the administration of devolved social security benefits for people in Scotland. Part 3 of the Scotland Act 2016 gave the Scottish Parliament the powers to create devolved benefits and the Social Security (Scotland) Act 2018 provides for types of assistance that will be created using those powers.
