Public Land Holdings in Scotland
In Scotland, the main public land holdings (excluding organisations such as Universities, Network Rail and the Ministry of Defence) are:
- National Forest Estate 651,300 hectares (owned by Scottish Ministers)
- Crofting estates - 95,200 hectares (owned by Scottish Ministers)
- NatureScot - 36,000 hectares
- Crown Estate - 35,500 hectares
- Local authorities - 33,000 hectares
- Scottish Water - 24,300 hectares
- Others - 10,000 hectares
