Equality outcomes 2025-2029: equality impact assessment
This equality impact assessment (EQIA) results report provides a summary of the key findings from the detailed work undertaken to assess potential equality impacts of the equality outcomes for the reporting period of 2025 to 2029.
Recommendations and Conclusion
The equality outcomes for 2025–2029 reflect the Scottish Government's commitment to addressing systemic inequalities and embedding equality at the heart of its work. These outcomes align with legal obligations under the Equality Act 2010 and the Scottish Specific Duties, and complement our other actions in relation to those duties.
Equality Impact analysis has shaped the policy making process. Although the equality outcomes are designed to reduce inequalities, we recognise that any policy can have unintended effects, particularly if some groups are underrepresented. To manage this, we will continue to engage with affected communities, improve the quality of equality data, and monitor the impact of these outcomes in practice. If issues arise, we will adjust our approach to ensure the outcomes remain inclusive and effective.
The EQIA allows for adjustments based on new evidence or feedback throughout the development and implementation process. Added to this, there remains a range of protected characteristic specific action plans with targeted goals and outcomes which will also drive positive outcomes for individuals.
