Renewable Electricity Capacity

Scotland’s capacity for electricity generation from renewable sources has continued to increase and currently stands at 18.4 GW – a 3.3% increase compared to 17.6 GW at the end of the second quarter of 2025 (Figure 3).

The technology with the largest capacity growth between the second quarter of 2025 and the second quarter of 2026 was onshore wind (0.5 GW increase).
