Final Energy Consumption

Total final energy consumption in Scotland in 2024 was 135.7 TWh. This is down 0.5% from 136.4 TWh in 2023 and down 20.9% from the baseline figure of 171.6 TWh (the baseline is the average consumption from 2005-2007; Figure 1).

In 2024, 55.6 TWh of energy was consumed in the non-domestic sector. This is down 27.6% compared to the baseline when 76.8 TWh was consumed and down 1.3% from 2023 when 56.4 TWh of energy was consumed. The total final energy consumption in the domestic sector in Scotland in 2024 has increased slightly compared to 2023 - up 0.8% from 38.7 TWh in 2023 to 38.9 TWh in 2024. However, compared to the baseline, energy consumption in 2024 in the domestic sector has decreased 26.6%.
