Provides information on the minimum re-sampling densities required to evalaute carbon stocks on Scottish peatlands and includes an evaluation of the accuracy of the ECOSSE model to simulate measured changes in soil carbon.

This work was funded by the Rural and Environment Research and Analysis Directorate of the Scottish Government, Science Policy and Co-ordination Division. We would like to thank Zoƫ Frogbrook ( CEH, Bangor) for permission to use peat bulk density and moisture content data from Glensaugh. We would also like to thank Amanda Thompson for providing the CEH land use change scenarios used to drive the ECOSSE simulations.
