Part of
Assets by Purchase Price
The most common price category was £10,001-£100,000: 254 assets
Figure 5: Prices paid for community owned assets range from no cost or a nominal amount to over £1 million
The number of community owned assets recorded in Scotland as of 31 December 2024 by price paid (converted to 2024 prices)
The figure is available in the Figures supporting document.
The non-monetary category consists of a variety of legal processes by which an asset can be transferred without money being exchanged, e.g. a gift or legacy. Prices under £100 are taken to be nominal.
To give a fair comparison over time all purchase prices have been converted to 2024 prices. Further information on this can be found in the User Guide.
Excluding non-monetary transactions and nominal amounts, a total of just over £4.0 million was paid for the 23 assets acquired in 2024.
Most prices have been verified against the Land Register. Of the 87 land based assets not on the Land Register, 43 do not have price information available. For the remaining 44 assets, prices have mostly been found from the original data source or from information provided by community groups themselves. There are six assets that were community owned before they were added to the Land Register where the price infromation is also not available. The purchase prices of two structures on land not owned are also not available.
