Bringing Hope, Building Futures: Tackling child poverty delivery plan 2026-2031 – Children's version
A children’s version of Bringing Hope, Building Futures: the third tackling child poverty delivery plan 2026 to 2031
Why do we have a delivery plan
In 2017, a new law was passed in Scotland called the Child Poverty (Scotland) Act 2017. It says that by 2030, Scotland must work hard to make sure fewer children grow up in poverty.
Because of this law, the Scottish Government must write plans that explain what we are going to do to help families have enough money.
When families do not have enough money, everyday things can feel very hard.
They might struggle to:
- buy food
- keep their home warm
- pay bills
- go on school trips or to afterschool clubs
This can make life stressful for children and adults.
We have published two plans since 2017 and done a lot to help families, but there are still lots of families who don’t have enough money.
This is our third plan, and the last one before 2030. This plan explains the steps we will take to help families across Scotland live better, happier lives.
